Spiral Text Personalization

The Spiral Text option lets customers write a longer personalized message and see it wind inward or outward along a spiral instead of sitting on a straight line, a distinctive look for coasters, coins, badges, or any product where text winding around a center point fits the design. Like Shaped Text, its default sample text is a full paragraph, since the spiral needs enough text to wind through its rings.

To add it, go to Option sets in the sidebar, open the option set for your product, click Add option, choose Spiral text under Text, then click Add. A spiral text layer appears on the preview canvas already winding sample text inward, and you can drag, resize, or rotate it into position on the product.

Content

The Content section controls the label and default text.

  • Personalize text: lets customers write their own paragraph, checked on by default
  • Label: the field name shown above the input, defaults to "Spiral text"
  • Default text: the sample paragraph shown on the preview canvas before a customer types anything, defaults to a lorem ipsum paragraph
  • Placeholder: hint text shown inside the empty input before the customer types
  • Help text: optional guidance shown below the input

  • Required: the customer must enter text before they can add the product to cart
  • Is paragraph: switches the input to a multi-line textarea instead of a single line, checked on by default
  • Move with bounding box: keeps the box frame fixed and lets the text move and resize inside it, double-click the layer to edit the text directly

Spiral shape

The Spiral shape section controls how tightly the text winds and where it starts.

  • Inner radius: the size of the empty space at the center of the spiral, defaults to 22
  • Ring spacing: how far apart each loop of the spiral sits from the next, defaults to 35
  • Start angle (deg): the angle around the circle where the text begins, defaults to 0
  • Direction: choose Outer → inner to wind the text from the outside in, or Inner → outer to wind it from the center out

The Style & effect section adds a shadow and an outline behind the text.

  • Shadow color: the color of the drop shadow, black by default
  • Blur: how soft the shadow's edge is, 0 by default (no shadow)

Transform

Fine-tune the spiral text layer's width, height, X/Y position, skew, opacity, and rotation, the same controls available on every other layer type, to nudge it into exactly the right spot on the mockup.

Like most option types, Spiral Text also supports conditions, so you can show or hide it based on another selection elsewhere in the option set. See the Conditional Option Sets guide if you want to set that up.

📌 Don't forget to click Save once you're happy with the setup, and make sure the option set's status is Active (not Draft). Customers won't see the Spiral Text option on your storefront until both are done.
