How to Place a Test Order (Option Sets Version)
A test order is the fastest way to confirm your personalized product works from end to end before real customers start buying. After you publish an option set, placing one test order lets you check that the personalizer shows correctly on your storefront, that the customer's customization is saved on the order, and that the customized preview carries through to the cart.
This guide walks you through placing a test order on the Option Sets version.
How to place a test order
Step 1: Activate your option set
Open the Option sets list, find the option set for the product you want to test, and set its status to Active. An option set does not appear on your storefront until its status is Active, so this step comes first.

Step 2: Open the product on your storefront
Open the product page in your live store, exactly as a customer would see it. If your store is still password protected, enter the password first.
Step 3: Personalize the product like a customer
Fill in the personalization the way a real shopper would: type into the text fields, upload a photo, and choose any swatches or options. Click Preview Your Design to check that your entries render correctly on the product preview.

Step 4: Add to cart and check out
Click Add to cart, then complete checkout to create the order. In the cart, confirm the customized preview and every value the customer entered appear next to the product.
Step 5: Check the order in Customix
Open Orders in Customix and click your test order. Click Customizations on the line item to see the exact values the customer entered, and make sure they match what you typed. This confirms the customization data was captured correctly and attached to the order.

How it works
Once your test order looks right, the personalizer and the saved customization data are confirmed working, and your option set is ready for real customers. If the preview or the saved values look off, adjust the option set, save, and place one more test order before going live.
📌 Print-ready files are generated on the Elite plan. On other plans your test order will show the customization data and the preview, which is what your fulfillment workflow relies on.
