Further Settings of Custom Text

When you add a Custom Text layer into a design, you can access advanced settings to control how the text behaves and looks. These options help merchants add fixed elements, adjust spacing, and apply special visual effects.

1. Prefix & Suffix

  • Prefix: Adds a fixed text element before the customer’s input.
  • Suffix: Adds a fixed text element after the customer’s input.

👉 Example: If you set Prefix = “The” and Suffix = “End”, and your customer enters Custom Text, the final result will display as:
“The Custom Text End”
Only the main Custom Text area will change based on customer input.

2. Character Spacing

Adjusts the space between letters in the custom text. Increasing the value spreads characters apart, while decreasing it makes them closer.

3. Stroke (Outline)

You can add an outline around the text for better visibility or style effects.

  • Stroke width: Controls how thick the outline is.
  • Outer stroke: Expands the outline outward.
  • Inner stroke: Draws the outline inward, making the text itself appear thicker.

👉 Example: A red outer stroke creates a bold border outside the letters.

4. Text Pattern

This feature allows you to fill the text with an image or texture.

  • Upload your file: Choose an image to be used inside the text.
  • Scale: Adjust the size of the pattern inside the text.
  • Repeat: Enable to tile the pattern across the text.
  • Offset X / Y: Move the pattern horizontally or vertically (Y) inside the text.

👉 Example: You can fill text with a fabric texture, photo, or repeating pattern for unique design effects.

5. Text Shadow

This feature allows you to add a drop shadow effect to your text to make it stand out.

  • Shadow color: Choose the color of the shadow from the color picker.
  • Blur: Adjust the softness and dispersion of the shadow's edges. A higher value creates a smoother, more diffuse shadow.
  • Offset X: Move the shadow horizontally relative to the text. Positive numbers move it to the right, negative numbers move it to the left.
  • Offset Y: Move the shadow vertically relative to the text. Positive numbers move it down, negative numbers move it up.

👉 Example: You can use a dark, low-blur shadow to create a lifting effect for the text, or a light-colored shadow for a softer, neon-like glow.

6. Text Gradient

This feature allows you to apply multiple colors to your text, creating a smooth transition between them.

  • Type: Choose between Linear (colors flow in a straight line) or Radial (colors radiate from a center point).
  • Angle: Rotate the direction of the gradient. (e.g., 90° for top-to-bottom, 180° for right-to-left).
  • Color stops: Add and customize the colors used in your gradient.
  • Add color stop: Click to add more colors to create complex, multi-color gradients.

7. Automatic Multiline

When Automatic Multiline is enabled, the app will automatically adjust the text layout based on the Maximum and Minimum font sizes you define.

The app will calculate the available width and height of the text area, then determine the most suitable font size within the specified range. If the text cannot fit on a single line, it will automatically wrap the content into multiple lines while maintaining the best possible font size.

Use this feature when you want to ensure that customer-entered text always fits within the designated area without requiring manual resizing or line breaks.

8. Text As Mask

The Text as Mask feature allows you to fill your text with an image, creating a striking text-mask effect. To use it, first select your Text Layer and click the Text as Mask icon in the top toolbar. The text will automatically become a mask, revealing the Image Layer beneath it.

Note:

  • This feature requires an Image Layer below the Text Layer. Both a regular Image Layer, Image Swatch, Vector and Vector Swatch are supported.
  • In the Design tab, you'll notice a blue outline around the masked text. This outline is only displayed to make the design easier to edit. It will not appear on your storefront or in the final production file.
