Your First Product in 5 Minutes
Let’s walk through creating a personalized product using Customix, starting with a simple poster.
To help you get familiar with the setup process, we’ll use a real example from our Customix demo store. This poster product allows customers to upload their own photo, add a custom message, and preview it live, which will be a perfect use case for beginners.
By the end of this guide, you’ll have a live customizable poster just like this, ready for customers to personalize and purchase.
Before doing anything else, make sure Customix is enabled in your theme:
Open the Customix Product Personalizer app from your Shopify admin panel.
In the Setup Guide, click Enable App Embed.
This opens the Shopify theme editor. Toggle the switch to enable Customix.
Don’t forget to click Save in the top-right corner.
⚠️ If this step is skipped, the customizer won’t appear on your product pages.
Next, upload the files needed to create your product layout:
Go to the Assets section in the left-hand menu.
In the Image tab, upload your sample image (e.g., placeholder graphics or design elements).
In the Font tab, upload the fonts you want to use for text personalization.
In the Mockup tab, upload the product image that will be used in the live preview.
Click Add Template to begin designing your poster layout. In this example, we’ll apply two types of customization:
Image Upload Field: Add an image field, then turn on the Personalization option to allow customers to upload their own photo.
Text Fields: Add two separate text fields: one top text and another for the bottom message.
Now that your Shopify product and template are ready, the final step is to create a campaign to link everything together and publish it on your Shopify store.
Go to the Campaigns tab in the Customix dashboard.
Click the Add button in the top-right corner.
Choose Shopify products as the campaign type.
Select your poster product from the list.
Under the Template section, click Add template and select the one you just created.
After saving, your campaign will remain in Draft mode. Please activate it and then click View to open the product page on your store. If you don’t see the customizer appear on your storefront, please reach out to our support team for assistance.
