Understanding Assets
Assets in Customix are the essential building blocks that support your customizable products. These include the images, fonts, mockups, colors, vectors, and maps that bring your designs to life and power the personalization experience.
What Are Assets?
Assets are files and design elements you upload and manage in the Assets section of the Customix dashboard. There are six main types:
- Images: Used as default artwork, clipart, or decorative elements inside your design templates.
- Fonts: Applied to text fields so customers can personalize products with branded or themed typography.
- Colors: Custom color palettes that can be applied to text; it's useful for limiting or guiding customer color choices.
- Mockups: Product display images used in live previews to show how personalization appears on the final item.
- Vectors: Scalable graphic elements that stay sharp at any size, ideal for icons, shapes, and line art used within design templates.
- Maps: Location-based map graphics that customers can customize, useful for personalized products featuring a specific place or coordinates.

How Assets Are Used
Assets don’t appear directly on your storefront. Instead, they are used within templates to:
- Set default design content
- Offer visual customization options (text, color, images)
- Generate real-time product previews
- Maintain design consistency across products
For example, when setting up a personalized mug, you might:
- Use a mockup photo of the mug
- Set a default design with uploaded clipart
- Allow customers to change the text font and choose from pre-defined colors
