Understanding Product Bases
Product Base is the foundation for creating customizable products and connecting them with fulfillment providers. It defines the product structure, print areas, preview images, and fulfillment mapping, which are later reused across Templates and Campaigns.
What Is a Product Base?
A Product Base represents a base product imported from a fulfillment provider (e.g. T-shirt, hoodie, phone case).
It contains all essential production information, including:
- Product name and catalog reference
- Print areas and their dimensions
- Preview images
- Linked fulfillment provider
Once created, a Product Base can be reused to create multiple Templates and Campaigns.

Creating a Product Base
There are two ways to create a Product Base:
- Importing from a fulfillment provider
- Creating a Product Base manually
1. Import from a Fulfillment Provider (Recommended)
YWhen you import a product from a fulfillment provider:
- Product information, print areas, and variants are synced automatically
- The Product Base is fully compatible with automatic order fulfillment
- Orders can be sent to the provider without manual steps
This method is recommended if you plan to use automatic fulfillment.

2. Manually Create a Product Base
You can also create a Product Base manually:
- Define print areas and sizes yourself
- Upload custom preview images
- Use it for preview, personalization, or custom workflows
Manually created Product Bases **do not **support automatic order sync to fulfillment providers.

Important Note: Automatic Order Sync to Fulfillment Provider
To automatically send orders to a fulfillment provider, the following conditions must be met:
- The Campaign must use a Product from Product Base
- The Product Base must be imported directly from the corresponding fulfillment provider
- The product data must match the provider’s original product configuration
If a Product Base is created manually, orders **cannot **be sent automatically and must be processed manually.
Creating Templates from a Product Base
After a Product Base is created (imported or manual), a Create Template button will be available on the Product Base detail page.
When clicking **Create Template, **Customix automatically generates a new template, which inherits:
- Print file count
- Print area dimensions
- Print area names (based on the Product Base setup)
For imported Product Bases, this ensures the Template is fully compatible with the fulfillment provider’s production requirements.
