Asset Thumbnails

Thumbnails are the visual representation of your assets on the storefront frontend. They are what customers see and interact with when making their personalization choices.

In Customix, there are three ways to set up a thumbnail for an asset:

1. Use Original Image (Default)

By default, the original uploaded image is automatically set as the thumbnail.

  • No additional action is required.
  • If you want to replace it with another image, click ⋮ (More options)EditChange under Thumbnail type.

👉 Example: If you upload a dog illustration, it will instantly appear as the thumbnail option on the storefront without any extra setup.

2. Use a Color Thumbnail

You can assign a solid color instead of an image.

  • Go to Assets → Edit the asset.
  • Under Thumbnail type, select Color.
  • Pick the desired color.

3. Generate Color Thumbnails (Image Files Only)

This feature automatically extracts dominant colors from an image file and generates thumbnails based on them.

  • Go to the asset folder.
  • Click Generate color thumbnails (top right).
  • The system analyzes the image and creates color-based thumbnails.

Notes

  • Original image thumbnails are the default, you only need to edit if you want to change them.
  • Thumbnails directly affect what customers see on the frontend option selector.
  • Generate color thumbnails works for image files only.
