# Your First Product in 5 Minutes

**Let’s walk through creating a personalized product using Customix, starting with a simple poster.**

To help you get familiar with the setup process, we’ll use a real example from our [Customix demo store](https://customix-demo-store.myshopify.com/products/personalised-poster-photo-poster-with-text-wedding-gift-idea). This poster product allows customers to upload their own photo, add a custom message, and preview it live, which will be a perfect use case for beginners.

By the end of this guide, you’ll have a live customizable poster just like this, ready for customers to personalize and purchase.

# Step 1: Enable App Embed
Before doing anything else, make sure Customix is enabled in your theme:
* Open the your **Online Store** section in your **Shopify Dashboard**, and select **Edit Theme **

⚠️ If this step is skipped, the customizer won’t appear on your product pages.

# Step 2: Upload Assets
Next, upload the files needed to create your product layout:
1. Go to the **Assets** section in the left-hand menu.
2. In the **Image** tab, upload your **sample image** (e.g., placeholder graphics or design elements).
3. In the **Font** tab, upload the **fonts** you want to use for text personalization.
4. In the **Mockup** tab, upload the **product image** that will be used in the live preview.

# Step 3: Add a Design Template
Click **Add Template** to begin designing your poster layout. In this example, we’ll apply two types of customization:
* **Image Upload Field**: Add an image field, then turn on the **Personalization** option to allow customers to upload their own photo.
* **Text Fields**: Add two separate text fields: one top text and another for the bottom message.

### Step 5: Create a Campaign
Now that your Shopify product and template are ready, the final step is to **create a campaign** to link everything together and publish it on your Shopify store.
1. Go to the **Campaigns** tab in the Customix dashboard.
2. Click the **Add** button in the top-right corner.
3. Choose **Shopify products** as the campaign type.
4. Select your **poster product** from the list.
5. Under the **Template** section, click **Add template** and select the one you just created.

After saving, your campaign will remain in **Draft** mode. Please activate it and then click **View** to open the product page on your store. If you don’t see the customizer appear on your storefront, please reach out to our support team for assistance.
