# Spline Text

Spline Text is a legacy text layer type, currently in Beta, that runs your text along a curve you draw yourself. Unlike Warp Text, it doesn't stretch the letters, it lines them up along your curve, so it's the one to reach for when a name has to follow a specific line in your artwork.

# Adding a Spline Text layer

Open **Templates** in the left sidebar and open your template. In the template editor, select the **Text** icon (T) in the left sidebar, then click **Spline Text** in the list of layer types.

# Default layer

A new Spline Text layer shows "YOUR TEXT" on a straight line in the middle of the canvas, sized to fill the line.

# Content

The **Content** panel on the right controls the text and where it sits on the curve:

* **Content**: the text shown on the canvas, "YOUR TEXT" to start with.
* **Prefix** and **Suffix**: fixed text added before or after the text.
* **Align on curve**: starts short text at the beginning (**Left**), middle (**Center**) or end (**Right**) of the curve. **Center** is selected by default.

Spline Text always stays on a single line: any line break in the text is shown as a space.

# Drawing the curve

Click **Edit curve** in the right panel. The curve appears on the canvas with three solid points, one at each end and one in the middle, and small round handles beside them:

* **Drag a point** to move that part of the curve.
* **Drag a handle** to change how the curve bends there. The handles beside the middle point move together, so the curve stays smooth.

When the curve looks right, click **Save**, the same button, to finish. **Reset curve** puts the text back on a straight line.

# Font size

![](https://cdn.customix.io/feature-docs/viet-doc-cho-tinh-nang-spline-text/legacy-06-font-size-range-8f0f5aa7bb.png)

Spline Text sizes itself to fill the curve. Click the font size on the canvas toolbar to set the range it can use:

* **Max**: the largest the text can grow. Resizing the layer on the canvas scales it with the layer.
* **Min**: the smallest the text can shrink to, 1 by default.

As the text gets longer it shrinks toward **Min** so it stays on the curve. Text that doesn't fit even at **Min** runs past the ends of the curve.

The rest of the canvas toolbar works as it does for other text layers: **Fit**, **Font**, text color, uppercase, pattern and stroke, plus **Transform** for the layer's position, size and rotation.

# Personalize text

Enabling this option lets the customer type their own text, which then runs along the curve you drew. Customers can't change the curve itself. Checking it reveals the usual text fields:

* **Label**: the field name shown to the customer in the personalization form.
* **Help text**: optional guidance text shown under the field.
* **Placeholder**: example text shown inside the empty field.
* **Max length**: the maximum number of characters the customer can enter.
* **Required**: whether the customer must fill in this field before ordering.
* **Move with bounding box**: keeps the box frame fixed and lets the text move and resize inside it (double-click to edit the text).
* **Is paragraph**: switches the field to a multi-line textarea. On Spline Text, line breaks the customer types are shown as spaces, since the text stays on one line.
* **Is numeric**: restricts input to numbers only.
* **Trim whitespace**: removes leading and trailing spaces from the customer's input.
* **Display swatches by characters**: shows one swatch per character typed, rather than one swatch overall.
* **Display layout swatches by text length**: shows a different layout swatch depending on how much text the customer has entered.
* **Text transform**: automatically transforms the input case, **Normal** by default.
* **Custom regex**: validates the input against a custom regular expression.

# Personalize font

Enabling this option lets the customer choose their own font for the text from a font library.

# Personalize with color palette

Enabling this option lets the customer pick the text color from a palette you build from a folder in the Colors asset library, rather than free-picking any color.

# Personalize with color picker

Enabling this option lets the customer pick any text color freely, rather than choosing from a predefined set.

Spline Text does not have a Personalize with stroke palette option.
